The Infinite Struggle.
Alexander Graham Bell’s invention did not go unchallenged. At the same time as he “invented” the phone, another man, Elisha Grey, invented the phone, an exactly the same idea, however he patented 1 hour later. Obviously however, Alexander was the one that the patent was awarded to, however it was simply because his patent was 5th of the day, while Elisha’s was 39th. Such an action was a huge insult to Elisha Grey, and the great patent war began between the two. In truth, the “war” was not so great. It was simply small struggles and debates between the companies that the men made, and in practically every struggle, Alexander Graham Bell emerged victorious. After his defeat in the patent war, Elisha Gray decided to continue inventing. In early 1900's, he attempted to invent an underwater signaling device to transmit messages to ships. A couple of weeks after his last test, he died of a heart attack. Thus ended a life of a great-unrecognized inventor who was lost his greatest invention by just an hour.
